Who is Sean O’Shaughnessey

Sean is a professional salesperson with over 3 decades of experience in complex business-to-business sales.

Originally educated with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from one of the best engineering undergraduate schools in the Midwest, Sean immediately gravitated towards sales. Having received 14 job offers in college for either engineering or sales, Sean selected a sales career as a way to earn more money and pursue his passion for rewarded excellence.

Sean has worked for some of the best sales organizations in the world. His resume includes Rockwell Automation, PTC, Oracle, IBM, SAP, TIBCO, Hitachi, Red Hat, and several startups. He has held positions as high as Chief Revenue Officer and VP Worldwide Sales.

Sean has sold to dozens of Fortune 500 companies including (but not limited to): Ally, Cardinal Health, Chrysler (FCA), Cummins, Eli Lilly, Fifth Third, Ford, General Electric, General Motors, Honda, Jackson Insurance, Key, Kroger, Lear, LexisNexis, Lexmark, L Brands, Nationwide, Papa Johns, Procter & Gamble, Progressive, Sallie Mae, Sherwin-Williams, Toyota.

Sean has achieved or exceeded quota over 2 dozen times (many times over 200% of quota). Has been in the top producer category at least 10 times and has had a top 10 largest deal of the year at least 20 times. Sean has been generously compensated having earned President’s Club 15 times and been rewarded with company trips to most of the islands of Hawaii, Jamaica, Nevis, Bora Bora, Tahiti, Bahamas, St. Thomas, Puerto Rico, UK, Belgium, and Portugal.

Sean wrote Eliminate Your Competition after taking nearly every sales training course on the market and reading most of the popular books. He was frustrated that many of the books were filled with fluff and the training courses missed the mark at creating consistently highly achieving salespeople.

In addition to sales, Sean is an avid investor and has written the book, The Confident Investor. Sean’s personal portfolio (which follows his teachings) have exceeded 30% for the past five years – significantly beating the market indexes.

Sean lives with his high school sweetheart wife in a suburb of Cincinnati, Ohio. They are the proud parents of three adult children.
